Hospital data project paused after consent questions

A regional records-sharing scheme is on hold while the watchdog reviews how patients were asked to opt in.
The rollout of a shared electronic records system across four hospitals has been paused after the data protection authority opened a review.
At issue is whether the opt-in wording, printed on the back of appointment letters, met the threshold for informed consent.
The hospitals say no records were shared improperly and that the pause is precautionary.
